from 386 reviewsThese plates are thick and fit the space where the rod tube is. I did a stronger modification to ensure my replacement rod holders will stay in place in case fish takes my line or I snag something. I have not used them yet as of this posting but am confident they will be stronger than using just the three original screws. Please keep in mind this is only a suggestion and my technique.
What you will need:
2 x Old Town Kayak Rod Tube (delete) Plates, Drillable Blank Plates.
6 x Well nuts 10x32x1”
6 x Screws 10x32x1.5” pan head, stainless steel, Phillips head
2 x Scotty (or other brand) Low Profile Tracks 3”
8 x Panhead screws, stainless steel
Electric Drill
Small drill bit for pilot holes
3/8 drill bit for well nuts
Fine tipped Sharpie
Phillips head screwdriver
The steps I took:
Trace the outline of the head on the well nut over the existing holes in the water barrier (felt padding provided by manufacturer).
Use an exacto knife to cut the holes in the barrier.
Remove rod holder tubes from the kayak.
Enlarge (drill) the holes that held the tube screws so the well nuts will fit.
Place the well nuts in the enlarged holes.
Place the water barrier so the well nut heads fit in the holes in the water barrier.
Place Old Town Kayak Rod Tube (delete) Plates and insert 10x32x1.5” screws and then tighten to secure firmly.
Position track piece to desired location on delete plate.
Using a fine tipped Sharpie, mark desired screw positions and remove plate.
Using a small drill bit, drill four pilot holes at marked locations.
Place the track rail and secure snuggly with screws. Be careful not to overtighten to avoid cracking delete plate.
My experience with using well nuts on my kayaks has been good in the past. They flatten out on the underside and expand, providing weight distribution, they also provide a watertight seal at the hole. I went with 1.5 in screws and 1 inch well nuts so it would provide a better grip and make it through the hull thickness.
This is a really good upgrade, rather then having a flat cover. The dividers will accommodate lures, hooks or putting items in their in pinch. I also have the tool holder that mounts underneath. Another great idea. I will use that for my less go-to tools. You can also hang lures from the hooks in the holes. Cant wait to get out there and try everything out. The shipping is super fast, customer service is world class, best ive ever communicated with. Great job on everything! 👌
These scupper strainers are a great idea, now I wont have to worry about losing a lure or porgy rig with the sinker into the scupper hole.
They fit really good. Shipping was super fast, outstanding customer service, and the website is so user friendly. Looking for more items to buy. Thanks again!!! A++
Love this product and they caught my mistake when I ordered wrong color . They sent email questions if that what I wanted and it was not the color I wanted.
Product is great fit perfect in my short stack , it made finding my plastic easier and quicker to get back to fishing
These work great and add to my Navarre tool storage plate. A must have for tackle box storage.
Robust and stiff solution, great for the Striker with its mechanical buttons that sometimes need to be pushed with some force. This makes it much easier to quickly and firmly press all the buttons w/ no movement of the unit. Offsets the unit just inside the yak in line w/ the side pockets.
Amazing product very good customer service
Lost one of the knobs from my Garmin Echomap on my 19 Sea-Doo Fish Pro and these Bradget replacement knobs were an exact match as the OEM part minus the rubberized edge which didn't matter at all. Plus your skeleton fish logo on your knobs is a cool touch. Prompt delivery and personalized note inside. Definitely have a new happy customer here!
I’ve always wondered if the h crate had a divider system. Yakattack is the more popular crate but I got my h crate dirt cheap on sale so it was a no brainer. I ordered my divider in orange to make it pop out a little more and I’m happy with the designer of it. It included everything you need. I got mine installed in 15 min.
Great way to store a 3700 under a old town
Really love the way Bradget gadgets help me stay organized. Tool holders, short stack dividers, and bungee bar.
These are GREAT! Thanks as ALWAYS Brad for creating a phenomenal product!
Super easy little add on. I got it to be able to my dry bag or jacket on my box and within easy reach. Well designed and comes with the right amount of clips.
I have and regularly fish from 3 different Old Towns (ePDL 132, PDL 120 Pro, and 106 PDL) . I liked the first system so much it became a must have for me on the other 2 kayaks. Now, I just don’t leave home without it.
I got a place for every tool I'm ready to hit the water
